Formula Tri-Sled Racing HPVNewsflash!AIPP Formula Tri-Sled Category expands in 2010!Tri-Sled and AIPP have expanded the successful Formula Tri-Sled Racing Category to ALL owners of a Formula Tri-Sled vehicle. All teams racing an unmodified Formula Tri-Sled vehicle in rounds one, two and/or three are invited to register for this category via the AIPP office. Tri-Sled is sponsoring prizes for winning teams. See our news page for further info or email the AIPP office at office@pedalprix.com.au to register.
The Formula Tri-Sled model is a versatile, affordable, faired machine designed for durability and performance. This model has been based on extensive consultation with teachers involved in HPV programs and encourages schools to involve students and interested volunteers in the assembly of the fairing while ensuring the team has a reliable and competitive vehicle for race day. Formula Tri-Sled is based around a reworked version of Tri-Sled’s longstanding Fast Back racing trike and includes a computer-cut corflute fairing kit for the team to assemble themselves. The kit also includes a CD PowerPoint presentation designed to be used as an instructional and educational aid for both classroom and homebuilding settings. The fairing kit is fully recyclable and can be purchased separately when the previous fairing is ready to be retired.
The model’s specially-designed alloy seat enables teams to construct simple support seats to accommodate different rider heights. The model is available in both a primary and secondary school size. Formula Tri-Sled was tested by the Tri-Sled all-girls team at the 2007 EIEP HPV Grand Prix held at Maroondah. The team achieved third place in the community class and eighth place overall, competing against 42 other entrants, including hybrid motor-assisted vehicles. The team’s five riders were competing predominately against all-male teams. Since then, Formula Tri-Sled vehicles have been raced at many events around Australia and now form the basis of an independent category at the AIPP Super Series (see news flash at top of page), allowing teams to compete on an even playing field. The Formula Tri-Sled Racing HPV features:
The corflute fairing kit is available in white or black only and can easily accommodate stickers or logos. Two-tone corflute (as pictured) is available on request and is recommended for easier assembly. Tri-Sled can also arrange custom stickers on request for an additional charge. Formula Tri-Sled is available for purchase without the fairing for schools that wish to purchase the fairing kit at a later date. The Formula Tri-Sled roll-frame has been specifically designed to support the fairing kit. Owners of other racing vehicles, including the Tri-Sled Fast Back Racing Trike, will need to modify their roll-bars to support the fairing.
